Mei's Favorite Gift
Meili's big birthday gift this year was tickets to the David Archuleta concert in SLC Friday night. Needless to say, she & her friend Jessica had the BEST time. They had great seats and, aside from the drunk lady who danced wildly next to Meili all night, enjoyed themselves tremendously. My tickets were somewhat further back, but I got some O.K. pictures off the JumboTron. Here's a shot of my future son-in-law. Yup, Meili's got it bad.

First Bike
Ana adores her new pink birthday bike (Thank you, Katie, for finding it!). What she doesn't love is having to wear Eliah's old, nasty blue helmet with flames on the sides. Unfortunately, her cute pink helmet from last year doesn't fit anymore. When I pulled out this one, she held up her hand with a "not on your life" attitude and said, "I don't want that one!" Hopefully, this is just a temporary solution. For now, she's willing to wear it cause it's the only way she gets to ride the bike.
Now if it would just warm up again, she could get back out on it.

Last Shakespeare Play
Meili participated in the school's Shakespeare play orchestra again. It was her third year in a row and her last one at the junior high. We attended Saturday night's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. I just love watching the orchestra. It's better than watching the play, in my totally unbiased opinion.
Party Time
Ana and her two little friends plus Lincoln and Scout. Not pictured: Daryl, Meili, Eliah, Tami, Katie, and Meili's friend Jessica, who came to help. The kids frosted then ate cupcakes and played lots of party games, according to Ana's plan. Katie brought Bingo, which was the perfect game to end the one-hour party.
Awaiting Guests
This Project's Finished
Meili had to do a leaf classification project last term. She hated this assignment and, if I remember correctly, put it off to the very last second. Yesterday I asked her to please figure out what to do with the project. I'm proud of her work, but this was a 3-inch binder!

An example of her work.

Notice the ominous shadow.

Scattering pages.

Finally, into the trash can.

Birthday Girls
Ana turned 5 on Sunday, and Meili turned 15 on Monday. Here they are with their "Katie Cakes." Ana's was Lemon Skittles Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. Yum! Meili's was Chocolate iPod Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. I still can't decide which one was my favorite. We had a dual celebration Sunday afternoon. Thank you, everyone, for loving our girls. Special thanks to Katie for her creative baking & decorating and to Stephen & Debbie for bringing Ana's favorite gift--a Fur Real Guinea Pig that she sang to sleep Sunday night and who is now her constant companion and nightly dinner guest (creepy feet and all).
