We headed to this national monument in western Idaho in order to finish up Eliah's Citizenship in the Nation merit badge. I was a little nervous as we drove out because the general landscape of the area looks exactly like the drive across Nevada--boring. When we arrived, though, it was obvious that this is a spectacular and unexpected place. Formed by volcanic activity, Craters of the Moon is practically a national park, with trails, diverse landscapes, and awesome views.
Looks like a cool place. Now I see why you drove all the way to Idaho! Somehow Matt managed to get his citizenship merit badge without driving so far . . . lucky us!
